Joint hearing before the Subcom on Asia and the Pacific and House Resources
Committee Subcom on Native American and Insular Affairs to review relations
between the U.S. and the Freely Associated States (FAS) which include the
Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Republic of the Marshall Islands
(RMI), and Republic of Palau (RP).
Examines terms and implementation of U.S. economic development assistance
programs to RMI, FSM, and RP, each scheduled to expire after 15 years under
the terms of previously negotiated compacts of free association which took
effect in 1986 and 1994.
